The materials used in construction have changed and improved over time, especially in the last few decades, since there has been an increasing focus on sustainable construction and energy efficiency. We bring you the top five materials used in modern construction:
1. Wood belongs to construction materials that can be shaped and processed for different purposes. According to the method of processing, there is a difference between ordinary wood, wooden materials obtained by applying various industrial processes and synthetic materials based on wood.
2. Concrete is the most commonly used material in construction, and its use was originally related to the exterior. Today, it is widely used in interiors as well, because it is increasingly used for decorative floors, and its popularity in construction is increasing year by year.
3. Glass is considered a stable building material, which has changed a lot over time, so today there are different shapes, thicknesses, colors and dimensions.
4. Modern construction is unthinkable without ceramics. In the past, ceramic tiles were used exclusively for bathrooms, while today they are used in the entire space, thanks to different, modern designs that easily fit into all environments.
5. Styrofoam - the first association when it comes to thermal insulation. A material that, due to its characteristics, has found a place everywhere where it is necessary to perform both thermal and sound insulation, from floors to roofs and other parts of building structures.
